Product Description
Global Warming has become a serious issue involving everyone and everything including the HVAC Industry. As this threat continues, state and federal regulations are continually changing and becoming more stringent in their energy guideline design requirements for HVAC designers. Because of this, HVAC systems are being more closely scrutinized than ever before and will continue to be as long as global warming continues to be a threat. With changes constantly being implemented into HVAC design guidelines, duct leakage requirements can be expected to be less than 1 percent of the total system CFM design. To meet the challenges of these ever changing requirements, XPT offers a new generation of duct leakage testers to meet these new challenges that face contractors in the HVAC industry today and tomorrow. Our duct leakage testers were not only designed to be more advanced and efficient, they were also designed to be economically priced for almost any kind of budget. We guarantee our testers with a 5-year warranty and product support to ensure your testers continually operate and satisfy all your testing needs. Our standard line of testers can accommodate a variety of usage, including residential. light commercial, commercial and industrial systems. See the following illustrations below which shows how our Duct Leakage Testers are used in a typical Duct Systems.
Positive Duct Pressurization Testing
Negative Duct Pressurization Testing
XPT Duct Leakage Testers
XPT has four standard models of duct leakage testers to choose from.
The DLT4-300(4 inch tube), is our smallest tester for
lighter testing requirements. The DLT5-600(5 inch tube), can be used on light to
medium size duct systems. The DLT6-1200 (6 inch tube)
and the DLT8-1800 (8 inch tube) are the largest of
our testers which can be used on most medium to large size duct systems.
Configuring our duct leakage testers for use in either positive or
negative duct pressurization testing is quick and simple with our "Quick
Seal" connections. Each connection is made by KBDuct and consists of heavy gauge
rolled lip collars that are designed to precisely sit flush and seal
with a matching hose adapter connection. The connection is then quickly
locked and securely sealed with a "Forever Clamp" also from KBDuct. It is an
"all welded" stainless clamp which is fitted with a heavy duty,
continuously reusable O-ring sealing gasket which have no perforations
to fatigue or tear. In fact the locking mechanism is so sturdy that
KBDuct backs their clamps with a "forever" guarantee. See
the following photos demonstrating XPT's "Vari-Tune" airflow
adjustment and our "Quick Seal" connection design for configuring your
tester for either positive or negative pressurization testing
requirements.

High Pressure Fan Blowers
Every Duct Leakage Tester comes with an OSHA approved, high pressure
fan blower which is initially setup and shipped to operate on 110-volts
(single-phase, 50 or 60-Hertz) power. Each fan unit is also capable to be
configured to operate on 220-volts (single-phase, 50 or 60-Hertz)
power. (Note: All DLT8-1800 testers are wired for 220-volts single-phase,
50 or 60-Hertz prior to shipment). If any of our standard duct leakage test kits
do not satisfy any special testing requirements you might have, you can call us to special
order and customize a duct leakage tester with a variety of other high
pressure fan blowers to meet any special testing requirements you might
have. To add even more flexibility to your duct leakage testing needs, a
variety of fan blower wheels can be special ordered to change the
operating parameters of your existing fan blower if needed. Call us at
XPT for more information regarding special order requirements.

Differential Tubes
XPT's Differential Tubes were designed to meet the requirements
specified by SMACNA HVAC Air Duct Leakage Test Manual; "Tester Guideline
Requirements". Each tube is built from one piece, large gauge, welded
seam galvanized steel tubes for long term durability and consistent
operation of your duct tester. Each differential tube is matched with a
specifically designed differential pressure flow sensor that reads the
difference in pressure between the high "HI" port and the low "LO" port
which is used to determine the air flow. The "HI" port senses total
pressure and the "LO" port senses static pressure. The difference between
these signals varies approximately with the square of the air velocity.
This difference of pressure is measured with a manometer included with
each duct leakage tester.
Every duct leakage tester with differential tube is individually tested
and calibrated prior to shipment to our customers and come with a
certificate of calibration which is traceable to NIST standards. From
each calibration derives a unique calibration table which is used to
determine airflow leakage versus the differential pressure readings from
your duct leakage tester. XPT recommends calibration of your
duct tester every 2 years. To help preserve your calibration between
that time, ensure that your duct leakage tester's differential
tube, differential flow sensor, guages and connections remain undamaged
and free from any debris.
SMACNA Duct Leakage Test Manual
To help you along with your testing needs, every duct leakage
tester comes with the latest testing standards from SMACNA. A
companion to HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible,
this manual contains duct construction leakage classification,
expected leakage rates for sealed and unsealed ductwork, duct
leakage test procedures, recommendations on use of leakage testing,
types of test apparatus and test setup and sample leakage analysis.
Also covered are orifice flow meter design and valuable references
for fluid meter instrumentation. This manual is referenced in
ASHRAE's Energy Conservation Standard 90.1. Identified as DALT by
some government agencies.
